5 Indian expats share Dh1 million prize in Mahzooz

DUBAI – Four Indian expatriates in UAE and one in Oman will be splitting the Dh1 million second prize in the latest Mahzooz draw, organisers told on Thursday (July 15).

The winners matched five out of six winning numbers to take home Dh200,000 each on Saturday (July 10).

A security guard in Al Ain said the unexpected windfall is going to transform his life.

“I have been away from my family for 10 years already. Thanks to Mahzooz, I can now bring them to the UAE,” said Sanjeev, 35.

“Being able to reunite with my kids is the best thing I can dream of. Having them with me is priceless. I miss them every day,” said the Punjab native.

Another winner, Shafi, who works at a pharmacy in Dubai, said he was “speechless” when he received the call informing him about his win.

The 48-year-old from Kerala has been living in Dubai in the last 19 years and considers the money he won as a “huge relief”.

“This win is a huge relief for me as I’m no longer worried about my financial burden,” Shafi said.

Another Kerala native, Ravoof, will also take home a share of the Dh1 million. Ravoof said he has been participating in Mahzooz since the start even though he lives in Oman.

“The moment I saw the winning numbers on the screen I started jumping in the air. I was thrilled and overwhelmed. I’ve never felt this happy before,” said Ravoof.

“My next step is to get married and have my own family. I will also help some of my relatives who have supported me during my tough days,” said the 27-year-old.

Another winner, Mohammed, who lives in Sharjah, said he plans to share some of his prize money.

“Winning feels good. But what feels great is when you can share your blessings and happiness with others. To me, this will make my prize money more meaningful,” he said.

“I will donate part of my winnings to charities and help as many people as I can,” the 38-year-old Hyderabad native said.

Meanwhile, another Indian winner, Prabhu, said he will use the money he won to build his dream home in Chennai.

“My wife and I have always dreamt of having our own home in Chennai. Thanks to Mahzooz, our dream will soon be a reality. Good things happen to those who believe that anything is possible,” he said. PIA/Expat Media
