30 women on visit visas to be deported from UAE

Thirty Ethiopian women who arrived together at Dubai International on visit visas will be deported from the UAE.

The group of women arrived at airport Terminal 2 on a flydubai flight from Ethiopia’s capital of Addis Ababa. They were denied entry into the country because they only had one-way tickets, a flydubai spokesperson said.

Visitors to the UAE need to show proof—such as return tickets—that they would leave the country before their visa expires.

Sources told Expat Media that there are hundreds of Ethiopians illegally recruited to work as housemaids in the UAE. They allegedly enter the country of visit visas and pay illegal agents to get employment visas. MFD/Expat Media
