DUBAI – The UAE has put stringent traffic rules in place to ensure the safety of motorists and pedestrians.
Here’s a look at 20 traffic offences that will earn you fines and dreaded black points.
Tailgating: Dh400 and 4 black points
Not wearing a seat belt: Dh400 and four black points
Failing to stop after accident: Dh500 and six black points
Parking in front of fire hydrants: Dh1,000 and 4 black points
Parking in spaces for emergency response vehicles: Dh1,000 and 4 black points
Parking in spaces for people with special needs: Dh1,000 and 4 black points
Reckless driving: Dh2,000 and 12 black points
Illegal racing: Dh2,000 and 12 black points
Sudden swerving: Dh200 and four black points
Wrong overtaking: Dh200 and three black points
Overtaking from right side: Dh200 and four black points
Overtaking from prohibited area: Dh600 and six black points
Overtaking using hard shoulder: Dh600 and six black points
Heavy vehicle not abiding by lane rule: Dh600 fine and six black points
Driving a vehicle without a number plate: Dh1,000 and 24 black points
Speeding by more than 60km/h above speed limit: Dh1,000 and 12 black points
