Two major Philippine Independence Day (PID) celebrations are happening in Dubai this June, a double celebration for the Filipino community in the UAE.
Expatmedia.net can confirm that the PID events are happening in Dubai on June 25 and 26. The Philippines will be celebrating its 124th Independence Day on June 12.
A Philippine Independence Day celebration will be held on June 25 at the Dubai World Trade Center. This was originally scheduled on June 11, but was postponed to June 25 in respect of the 40-day mourning period over the death of the late UAE president Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
This Philippine Independence Day celebration will run from 9am to 7pm at the Sheikh Saeed Hall 1 and is organized by the Filipino Social Club (FilSoc) in cooperation with the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai. The FilSoc is the only Filipino group accredited by the Community Development Authority in Dubai.
“We have planned a full day of exciting events, including a fiesta parade, plenty of competitions, freebies and awards for Filipinos in the UAE,” Ericson Reyes, President of Filipino Social Club (FilSoc), told Expatmedia.net.
Celebrity guests include Ronnie Alonte and Loisa Andalio. The celebration will also feature a retail and food bazaar, talent shows and mini concerts. Admission is free. Read more here
On June 26, the Philippine Independence Day celebration in Dubai continues steam with a day-long event starting at 10am at Hall 2 of the Dubai World Trade Center, featuring activities, dance shows, singing showdown, cultural dances and a fair. Entrance is free.
The event was originally scheduled on June 12 but was postponed to June 26. Organisers revealed to Expatmedia.net that star-studded shows will begin at 5pm. Celebrity performers include Emirati hitmaker Alira. The celebration is presented by Emirates Loves Philippines and Philippine Business Council Dubai and Northern Emirates, in cooperation with the Philippine Consulate General Dubai.
