UAE confirms full list of public holidays for 2019, 2020

 

DUBAI – The UAE government on Tuesday (March 5) confirmed a full list of public holidays for 2019 and 2020.

The UAE Cabinet said both the public and private sectors will get 14 days of public holidays this year and next year.

The Cabinet said the new decree is aimed at “achieving a balance between the two sectors and supporting the national economy”.

Later in the year, the UAE is likely to get a five-day weekend to kickstart December, with a two-day break for UAE National Day on December 2 and 3, and Commemoration Day on December 1.

Here is the list of holidays, with dates subject to vary according to moon sightings:

Public holidays in 2019

Eid Al Fitr: (29 Ramadan-3 Shawwal)

Arafah Day: (9 Dhu al Hijjah)

Eid Al Adha: (10-12 Dhu al Hijjah)

Hijri New Year: (1 Muharram 1441)

Commemoration Day: (December 1)

National Day: (December 2-3)

Public holidays in 2020

New Year: (January 1, 2020)

Eid Al Fitr: (29 Ramadan-3 Shawwal)

Arafah Day: (9 Dhu al Hijjah)

Eid Al Adha: (10-12 Dhu al Hijjah)

Hijri New Year: (August 23)

Commemoration Day: (December 1)

National Day: (December 2-3)
