UAE: Sudanese visa violators to be exempted from fines

Sudanese nationals who have overstayed their residence visa, visit visa or tourist visa in the UAE will be exempted from paying fines, authorities announced on Friday (May 19).

The Federal Authority for Identity, Nationality, Customs and Port Security made the announcement as a humanitarian gesture amid the ongoing conflict in Sudan.

The authority said that those who will be exempt from fines “include those who have expired entry visas, and residency visas if they have exceeded their stay in the UAE”.

Clashes began in Sudan in April as rival military factions battled for control. At least 500 people have been killed and thousands injured in weeks of fighting. ICA/Expat Media
