UAE residence visa holders and citizens can now enter Qatar without a Hayya card, Qatar’s Ministry of Interior announced on Tuesday (December 6).
The new entry rule also applies to all citizens and residence visa holders from other Gulf countries: Oman, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Iran, Iraq and Kuwait.
Qatar previously made the Hayya card mandatory for all foreigners visiting Qatar during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, even if they are not attending the event. Since November 1, no other standard visit visa, travel visa or visa-free permits have been issued in Qatar, with Hayya considered the only entry permit.
On Tuesday, Qatar said it is resuming “regular entry procedures” as it scrapped the mandatory issuance of Hayya cards as a prerequisite to visiting the country. ICA/Expat Media
