UAE police warn against fake cryptocurrency trading offers

DUBAI – Abu Dhabi Police warned UAE residents against fraudsters promising large sums of money through online trading services in cryptocurrencies.

Major General Muhammad Suhail Al Rashidi, Director of the Criminal Security Sector, told the public not to share their personal or financial information online.

Al Rashidi also urged residents to avoid anonymous calls, messages or ads that claim to be from companies licensed to trade in cryptocurrency.

He said that lack of awareness on the risks of trading in cryptocurrency tends to lead to fraud, piracy or money laundering.

The public can anonymously report fraudsters and other suspicious activities to the Abu Dhabi Police through the Aman hotline 8002626 or via SMS on 2828. ICA/Expat Media
