Motorists in the UAE will pay more at the pump from Tuesday (September 1), with petrol and diesel prices rising across all categories for September.

The UAE Fuel Price Committee approved the new rates on Monday (August 31), with petrol prices increasing by 20 fils per litre across all three grades and diesel rising by 50 fils per litre compared with August.

The increase means drivers who fill up regularly will see the extra cost add up over the course of the month, particularly those with larger fuel tanks or longer daily commutes.

The UAE moved to monthly market-based fuel pricing in 2015, with the Fuel Price Committee reviewing retail rates based on movements in global energy markets.

UAE petrol prices for September 2026
Super 98 Dh3.80
Special 95 Dh3.69
E-Plus 91 Dh3.61
Diesel Dh4.30

The Fuel Price Committee said the prices were set under the UAE’s monthly fuel pricing mechanism, which tracks global energy prices and reflects changes in the domestic market.

How much will a full tank cost?

The amount motorists pay will depend on their vehicle’s tank capacity and the fuel grade recommended by the manufacturer.

For a 40-litre tank, a full fill-up in September will cost:
• Super 98: Dh152, up from Dh144 in August
• Special 95: Dh147.60, up from Dh139.60
• E-Plus 91: Dh144.40, up from Dh136.40
• Diesel: Dh172, up from Dh152

For a 50-litre tank:
• Super 98: Dh190, up from Dh180
• Special 95: Dh184.50, up from Dh174.50
• E-Plus 91: Dh180.50, up from Dh170.50
• Diesel: Dh215, up from Dh190

For a 60-litre tank:
• Super 98: Dh228, up from Dh216
• Special 95: Dh221.40, up from Dh209.40
• E-Plus 91: Dh216.60, up from Dh204.60
• Diesel: Dh258, up from Dh228

This means a 60-litre petrol tank will cost Dh12 more to fill in September, regardless of whether the vehicle uses Super 98, Special 95 or E-Plus 91. For a 60-litre diesel tank, the increase will be Dh30.
For motorists who fill a 60-litre petrol tank twice a month, the September increase would amount to an additional Dh24 compared with August. A diesel vehicle filled twice would cost Dh60 more over the same period. ICA/Expat Media
