DUBAI – A 19-year-old girl who was reported missing in Europe has been found in Dubai, according to a Dubai Police official.
The teen, who is specially-abled, flew to Dubai without her family’s knowledge. The teen said she wanted to visit the city after seeing beautiful photos of the emirate.
The case was uncovered after police received a call from a hotel in Dubai about the teen who wanted to book a room there. Hotel staff suspected something was wrong.
Dubai Police’s Victim Communication Programme team talked to the teen to help her. Police also contacted her country’s consulate, which confirmed that her family didn’t know about her whereabouts.
The teen has been reunited with her aunt after Dubai Police booked a flight for her to Dubai, according to Captain Dr Abdullah Al Sheikh, head of the Victim Communication Programme.
