DUBAI – Two people were hurt after a boat exploded and burst into flames in a port in Ras Al Khaimah on Tuesday (November 10).
The victims, both Asian, were onboard the fishing boat in Ghalilah Fishing Port when the boat exploded and burst into flames.
The incident happened at 8am, said Khalifa Al Mehairi, chairman of RAK Fishermen Association.
Al Mehairi said the fishermen were changing the boat’s battery when the explosion occurred.
Witnesses said the force of the explosion caused the fishermen to be thrown into the water.
The men sustained moderate injuries and were taken to Shaam Hospital for treatment.
The boat sank following the incident. No other boats in the area were affected by the explosion and subsequent fire.
