JEDDAH – A Saudi national was arrested on Thursday (October 29) after attacking a guard at the French consulate in Jeddah, according to state media and embassy officials.
The suspect used a “sharp object” in the attack. “The guard sustained minor injuries as a result of the attack,” according to state news agency.
Authorities have not disclosed the suspect’s motive for the attack.
However, it comes after French President Emmanuel Macron sparked Muslim anger when he defended cartoons of Prophet Mohammed seen as offensive to Muslims. ICA/Expat Media
