The remains of slain Filipina Marjorette Garcia have arrived in the Philippines from Saudi Arabia where she died.

Garcia’s casket arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport on Friday (October 13). OWWA Administrator Arnell Ignacio expressed his condolences to Garcia’s family.

Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) said that the government will give a hero’s welcome to Garcia. According to the DMW, an investigation is ongoing to find out the circumstances surrounding her death.

Garcia had worked in Saudi Arabia since 2021. Her family claimed that she was stabbed. Officials said that the case is now with prosecutors and may reach the criminal court.

OWWA’s Ignacio said Garcia has never asked for assistance from OWWA and said that the Filipina had a good working relationship with her employer.

Garcia’s family first reported her missing to Philippine authorities after they did not hear from her for two weeks. “On September 27, they told us that they found her body in the morgue,” Rits Parungao, Garcia’s sister, told CNN Philippines.

Parungao said the news shocked her because Garcia was happy during their last conversation. She added that they were told that her sister was accidentally stabbed. ICA/Expat Media
