DUBAI – Danish retail brand JYSK has opened its newest Dubai outlet at BurJuman mall, drawing hundreds of people to its two-tier showroom.
The outlet takes up two floors inside the mall and features indoor and outdoor furniture, home accessories and beddings.
“You’ll notice that a lot of the designs are very clean lines, very minimalistic. This is very true to the Scandinavian design. We are a Danish brand. We are born and bred as a Danish furniture store so it’s in the DNA,” Brett Trevethan, COO of JYSK, told Expatmedia.net.
“What’s nice about having clean lines and simplicity and minimalistic style of furniture in your house is you can still spice it up with some really good accessories, and this is where we are very, very strong as well,” Trevethan said as he gave Expatmedia.net a tour of the showroom (watch out for our exclusive video).
JYSK (pronounced as “yusk”) opened its first store in Denmark in 1979. Now it has approximately 2,050 stores in 36 countries, including the UAE. The store in BurJuman is JYSK’s third outlet in Dubai. The retailer is set to open its first outlet in Abu Dhabi this year.
On the opening day in Dubai over the weekend, hundreds of people lined up to check out what’s on offer. There were buy 2 get 2 offers on all towels, and a coffee table for Dh50 for the first 50 customers.
