Pakistani father drowns his 4 children after argument with wife

A Pakistani man killed his four children by drowning them in a canal following an argument with his wife, according to police.

The man is now in police custody and has confessed to his crime. According to police, the children drowned after the man pushed them into a canal in the Mustafabad area of Punjab province.

Police said the man’s wife recently gave birth to another daughter, which sparked an argument between the couple. The couple’s four older daughters were aged 12, 9, 5 and 2.

The suspect, Muhammad Azeem, previously told police that his daughters had gone missing, and claimed that they might have been abducted. Further investigations, however, uncovered his crime, which police called “cold-blooded murder.”

Investigators said that Azeem took his children on a motorbike to Lulliyani Canal in the Mustafabad area of Kasur district. He tricked his children to pose for a selfie, before suddenly pushing them into the canal where they drowned. Rescuers and search teams have been working to retrieve the bodies of the victims.

Meanwhile, Punjab’s interim Chief Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi has ordered authorities to take strict legal action against Azeem. ICA/Expat Media
