NYPD team to compete in UAE Swat Challenge

Members of the Emergency Services Unit of the New York Police Department (NYPD) are heading to Dubai in February to compete in the UAE Swat Challenge.

Members of the team said they are very excited to compete alongside specialized police teams from various countries around the world.

Sergeant Dante from the NYPD Emergency Services Unit said this will be his first time to participate in the UAE SWAT Challenge. He said that the NYPD team has been training for more than a month on the multiple challenges included in the tournament.

The UAE SWAT Challenge will be held across five days of intense competition from February 3 to 7 at the Dubai Police’s SWAT Training Facility in Al Ruwayyah.

This year’s challenge will showcase world-class tactical teams competing in five main challenges: The Tactical Competition, Assault Challenge, Officer Rescue, High Tower Challenge, and Obstacle Course.

Competing SWAT teams will come from 70 countries, including Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Kenya, Pakistan, Bahrain, Hong Kong, South Africa, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines, which said it is sending its “best of the best” in the international competition. ICA/Expat Media
