New UAE curfew and national disinfection programme from May 30

DUBAI – UAE authorities have revised the timings for the National Disinfection Program, state news agency WAM reported on Friday (May 29).

From Saturday (May 30), the curfew and disinfection programme will run from 10pm to 6am.

The new timings were announced by the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Interior and the National Authority for Emergency and Disaster Management.

According to authorities, the decision to change the curfew is to give citizens and residents “greater opportunity to attend to necessary or essential activities”.

The timings are also aimed at assisting economic activity “in the gradual recovery and revitalization of the commercial movement and not disrupting the important sectors of UAE”.

Meanwhile, supermarkets, grocery stores and pharmacies will continue to operate 24 hours a day while adhering to Covid-19 precautionary measures.

From 6am until 10pm, everyone is free to go out, however, authorities urged the public to practice social distancing, particularly in public places.

Authorities said that no public gatherings or family visits are allowed in order to ensure everyone’s health and safety, and urged the public to wear face masks and gloves when leaving the home.

During the curfew from 10pm to 6am, the public is urged to stay at home, except if they need to go out for emergency, a health check-up or to buy food or medicine. ICA/Expat Media
