PERU – A man fell to his death in Peru after posing for a selfie in an area above the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu.
The director of the Machu Picchu archaeological park said German tourist Oliver Paps, 51, fell more than 300 feet on June 29 in the famous tourist attraction there.
Director Fernando Astete said on Friday (July 1) that Paps crossed over a barrier meant to keep tourists away from the edge. The area is closed to visitors.
Paps’ body has reportedly been recovered. CLM/Expat Media
