Indian passport applicants in the UAE will now need a confirmed appointment before visiting the Consulate General of India in Dubai, as the mission has stopped walk-in entry for passport, visa, attestation and other consular services.

The Consulate announced the change earlier this week as it ontroduced temporary administrative measures to manage the surge in applicants following delays in the rollout of the new Indian Consular Application Centres (ICACs) by Alhind Tours and Travels LLC.

Under the updated system, only applicants with confirmed appointments booked through the newly launched online portal will be allowed entry at the Consulate in Dubai. Appointments can be booked through book.passportindiauae.com, with available slots scheduled between 9am and 1pm.

The Embassy of India in Abu Dhabi and the Consulate General of India in Dubai said appointment slots for the following day will be released at 8pm. Applicants with confirmed appointments may enter the premises 15 minutes before their scheduled appointment time.

Limited walk-in services remain in Abu Dhabi

While walk-in access has ended at the Dubai Consulate, limited walk-in services will continue at the Embassy of India in Abu Dhabi from 9am to 11am.

The missions said priority will be given to urgent cases, including:
• Newborn applicants
• Emergency Certificate applications, which are issued as one-time travel documents for individuals who do not hold a valid passport

Applicants with non-urgent requests have been advised to secure an online appointment to avoid long waiting times and overcrowding.

New entry rules for Indian consular services in UAE

To manage crowds, only applicants will be permitted inside the Embassy and Consulate premises. An exception will apply to minor applicants, where both parents are required to be present.

For passport, visa and consular services in Abu Dhabi, applicants must enter through the Embassy’s main gate located on Al Safarat Street, Abu Dhabi.

Queries and clarifications, including concerns related to document delivery, will be handled at the Consular Wing at Unit No. 101, 1st Floor, Guardian Tower (Technip Building), Al Ishirah Street, Abu Dhabi.

For the Consulate General of India in Dubai, applicants requiring passport and visa services must enter through Gate No. 2. Those applying for attestation services, document delivery, queries on submitted applications and labour-related concerns should use Gate No. 1.

Indian passport applicants reminded to prepare documents

The missions urged applicants to follow the guidelines to ensure faster processing and smoother service delivery. Applicants must:
• Submit fully completed application forms with all required supporting documents.
• Complete the passport application form through mportal.passportindia.gov.in/mission/.
• Carefully follow instructions before uploading photographs, signatures and supporting documents.
• Ensure signatures or thumb impressions are uploaded correctly with a clear white background.
• Bring the exact cash amount for applicable fees, as payments will only be accepted in cash.

Applicants have also been reminded that the updated passport fee structure took effect on July 1, 2026.

The Embassy and Consulate said their existing contact channels remain available for inquiries:
Toll-free number: 800 46342 (800 INDIA)
WhatsApp: +971 54 309 0571
Email: pbsk.dubai@mea.gov.in

The temporary changes come as Indian missions in the UAE work to manage increased demand for passport and consular services while transitioning to the new appointment-based system. ICA/CAM/Expat Media
