Expat on UAE death row reunites with family

DUBAI – An Indian expatriate on death row in the UAE has returned home to be reunited with his family on Wednesday (June 9) after nine years in jail.

Becks Krishnan was given capital punishment for causing the death of a Sudanese boy in a road accident in September, 2012.

After a flight from Abu Dhabi, Krishnan had an emotional reunion with his wife and son at Kochi International Airport on Wednesday.

His family had approached Lulu Group chairman M.A. Yusuff Ali, who intervened in the case and helped Krishnan get pardon after paying Dh500,000 as compensation in court.

Krishnan called it his “second lease of life”. He plans to find a job in Kerala and start life fresh there. ICA/Expat Media
