India: Domestic flights delayed due to zero visibility

An airport official said on Monday that 118 domestic flights from the national capital’s Indira Gandhi International Airport had been delayed owing to bad weather.

Around 32 domestic arrivals have also been delayed, according to the authority.

“Three flights were diverted to Jaipur due to low visibility- Air India Express from Sharjah to Delhi, Spicejet flight from Ahmedabad to Delhi, and SpiceJet flight from Pune to Delhi,” a Delhi airport official said.

According to satellite images and visibility data from the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a fog layer extended from Punjab and adjoining northwest Rajasthan to Bihar across Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh.

“Due to dense fog, flight operations at the Delhi Airport may be interrupted,” the Delhi Airport said on its social media site this morning.

“Passengers are urged to contact the airlines concerned for updated flight information,” the announcement added.

Meanwhile, 29 trains, including the Rajdhani Express, have been operating late in the Northern Railway region due to heavy fog in northern India. BKM/ Expat Media
