Filipina bar exam high scorer gets car as gift from university

CEBU – A Filipina law graduate got a new car as a gift from her university after she passed the Philippine bar exams with a score of above 90 percent.

Attorney Sandra Jane Soon was presented the gift at the University of Cebu’s School of Law on Saturday (May 7). Her score of above 90 percent is considered exemplary.

The university also acknowledged the efforts of its 11 bar exam passers who received a rating of above 85 percent.

The Philippine Bar Examination is considered the most prestigious professional licensure exam for aspiring lawyers in the country. It is conducted only once a year.

According to the Supreme Court, a total of 8,241 people passed the bar exams last February 4 and 6. This is equivalent to 72.28 percent of the total 11,402 law graduates who took the exams.

The passing rate is the second highest in Philippine bar history following the 1954 bar, which recorded a 75.17 percent passing. On average, only around 30 percent of bar takers pass the exams. FAY/Expat Media
