Father of Ajman student run over by bus donates blood money to charity

The Yemeni father of a student who was killed after being run over by a school bus in Ajman has donated the blood money to charity.

The Court of Appeal earlier ruled that the bus driver be imprisoned and pay a Dh200,000 compensation to the victim’s family.

Hassan Bilal, the father of the victim, is donating the money to charity so it can be used to build a mosque and create wells in an impoverished country. He has entrusted his brother to receive he blood money. Bilal said the money will cover five charitable projects.

Bilal’s daughter, Sheikha Hassan, was killed after she was run over by the bus as she tried to get to the pedestrian lane.

The incident happened on February 15 after the 12-year-old student of Umm Ammar School alighted from the school bus near her home in Ajman’s Hamidiya area.

Authorities said she died from serious head injuries. Ajman Police said the bus driver “drove forward without paying attention and ran over her, causing her death”. Police said there was no supervisor in the bus during the incident. ICA/Expat Media
