DUBAI – Etihad Airways will be laying off more employees this week, Reuters reported, quoting an internal email from the Abu Dhabi-based airline.
According to the email, affected staff will be notified within 24 hours. Etihad did not disclose how many people will be affected by the job cuts.
However, Reuters quoted a source from Etihad as saying that up to 1,000 cabin crew jobs will be affected. A similar notice was also sent out to pilots two days ago.
Etihad has already gone through a series of job cuts and salary deductions as part of efforts to keep the company afloat amid a steep drop in travel demand due to the coronavirus pandemic.
On Wednesday (November 11), Etihad announced that ten of its jumbo jets Airbus A280s will remain grounded until air travel demand improves. ICA/Expat Media
