DUBAI – Dubai-based bank Emirates NBD confirmed on Tuesday (June 23) it is laying off around 800 people due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
The bank said the economic impact of the coronavirus pandemic has forced it to cut to the “right size” for its operations and staff requirements.
“Unfortunately, this has meant letting go of some of our colleagues as we right-size to meet our anticipated future business needs, especially in the light of the economic forecasts that point towards challenging times ahead,” an Emirates NBD spokesperson them.
“This decision was not taken lightly, and we have done our very best to treat them fairly, with respect,” Emirates NBD added. ICA/Expat Media
