DUBAI – A Bangladeshi waiter who recorded a TikTok video at a parking lot in Dubai before adding fake gunshot sounds will be deported after serving his jail term.
The Dubai Court of Appeals upheld the six-month jail sentence for the 34-year-old and also fined him Dh5,000 for posting the disturbing video.
The video, which went viral in January, suggested an attack at a parking lot in Dubai, with the waiter adding the sound of gunshots and people screaming in the edited video.
Dubai police were able to track down the waiter and arrest him. His TikTok account was also blocked. The waiter was charged with publishing a video that harmed public order.
He has 30 days to make a final appeal. ICA/Expat Media
