Dubai truck movement restrictions to change from October 1

New truck movement restrictions will take effect across Dubai from October 1, 2026.

Truck drivers and transport companies in Dubai will face new movement restrictions from October 1, with banned hours varying according to the road and traffic conditions.

Dubai Police and the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) said the restrictions are designed to manage heavy-vehicle movement, ease congestion and improve the efficiency of the emirate’s road network.
Emirates Road will be exempt from the new decision.

Several major roads and locations will remain subject to round-the-clock truck movement restrictions, including Al Qudra Street, Al Meydan Street, all crossings and Airport Tunnel.

Other roads, including Sheikh Zayed Road and Beirut Street, as well as residential areas such as Al Mizhar, Muhaisnah and Oud Al Muteena, will have a 16-hour daily restriction from 6am to 10pm.

Urban roads including Airport Street, Oman Street and Damascus Street will have three restricted periods each day: from 6:30am to 8:30am, 1pm to 3pm, and 5:30pm to 8pm.

Companies that need to move trucks during restricted periods for essential operations can apply for a Mobility Permit for Heavy Vehicles in Banned Times and Roads through RTA’s Right-of-Way Department.

Truck drivers and operators have also been urged to use designated rest areas during restricted periods.
RTA has completed 14 of 16 planned truck rest stops across six key locations. The authority said it has added 364 parking spaces at seven rest stops, bringing their total capacity to 1,007 spaces.

More than 150,000 trucks use Dubai’s truck rest stops each month, while the emirate records about 400,000 truck journeys every day, according to RTA. The authority also plans to develop four additional permanent truck rest areas in partnership with the private sector. ICA/Expat Media
