Dubai Ride is open to adults and children, including persons with special needs. Interested participants can register for free on dubairide.com. People with special needs can send a separate email via PoD@linkviva.com for any assistance on the route.

The event is part of the Dubai Fitness Challenge, which also features the much-awaited Dubai Run on November 20.

For this year’s Dubai Ride, cyclists will be taking over Sheikh Zayed Road as well as Downtown Dubai as part of two cycling routes spanning 12km and 4km.

Riders have two routes to choose from: the 12km Sheikh Zayed Road route and the 4km Downtown Family route. “Both options will be one of the most stunning cycle tracks in the world, offering the chance for cyclists to explore the heart of the city at the break of dawn,” organisers said.

The 4km Downtown Family route follows Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard and goes past Dubai Mall, Dubai Opera and the Burj Khalifa. The 12km Sheikh Zayed Road route goes from Dubai World Trade Centre to Safa Park and back. It includes a climb over the Dubai Canal Bridge.

Riders can choose from five starting points for the Sheikh Zayed Road route: Museum of the Future, Al Satwa, Coca-Cola Arena, Business Bay or Lower Financial Center Street. The Downtown Family route starts at Dubai Mall. ICA/Expat Media
