A six-year-old girl who became separated from her family in Dubai’s Frij Al Murar area was reunited with her parents within 30 minutes after Dubai Police launched a search operation.

The child was found by officers from Naif Police Station after her father reported her missing, according to Dubai Police on Saturday (September 5).

Brigadier Omar Mousa Ashour, Director of Naif Police Station, said the station received the report from the Command and Control Centre at the General Department of Operations.

A search team was immediately formed, while the girl’s photograph was circulated among police patrols and investigation teams in the area. Within half an hour, a Naif Police patrol located the girl on a street within the station’s jurisdiction.

Police said the child was crying and extremely frightened when officers found her. She was taken safely to Naif Police Station, where the Victim Communication Section provided her with care and support while officers waited for her father to arrive. She was subsequently reunited with her family.

Brigadier Ashour said that the girl’s father had taken her to a grocery shop near their home. After finishing his shopping, he turned around and realised that he could no longer see his daughter.

He initially thought she might have returned to their residential building. When he went home, however, he discovered that she was not with her mother. After searching the surrounding area without success, he contacted Dubai Police.

Following the incident, Dubai Police reminded parents and guardians of the importance of keeping young children under close supervision, particularly in crowded public areas. Police also urged families to teach children what to do if they become separated from their parents.

Children should be taught to approach police officers or security personnel and ask for help if they become lost, particularly in busy public places. Dubai Police’s official service channels list 999 for emergencies and 901 for inquiries. ICA/Expat Media
