The Pointe, Dubai Palm Jumeirah’s dining and entertainment destination, will close on May 25 to make way for a major revamp.

“We invite you to enjoy your favourite restaurants during the last two weeks,” according to The Pointe in a social media announcement.

Developer Nakheel has said that the open-air venue would be redeveloped, but did not reveal further details about its redevelopment plan.

The closure of The Pointe was done in phases, with its tourist attraction, The Palm Fountain, shut down on May 15 last year. In the same month, restaurants in the area were given a 12-month notice to vacate.

“The tenants of The Pointe have been served notice, which is fully compliant with the Dubai Land Department laws, rules and regulations, as part of the future redevelopment of The Pointe,” according to Nakheel in a statement.

The Pointe first opened in December 2018. Nakheel did not give details about its redevelopment plan, including timeline, but experts speculate that The Pointe will be turned into a luxury residential area.

Nakheel confirmed that the fountains would close but did not disclose its plans. Restaurants lining the man-made bay said they had been given eviction notices this week. ICA/Expat Media
