Dubai-based Angel Gwyneth Gutierrez was crowned Mutya ng Pilipinas – Charity as part of the Mutya ng Pilipinas Dubai pageant.

Gutierrez was crowned in the presence of Mutya ng Pilipinas National Director Cory Quirino on Tuesday (March 5). Quirino said that judges voted overwhelmingly for Gutierrez to get the title, which she said was “a new prestigious title added to Mutya ng Pilipinas Dubai.”

As Mutya ng Pilipinas – Charity, Gutierrez will be representing Mutya ng Pilipinas’ charity programs in the Philippines as its ambassador, and is expected to work on her first project in May.

The young beauty queen represented her Philippine home city of Batangas at the inaugural Dubai franchise of the popular Philippine beauty pageant.

The 19-year-old was a crowd favourite in the pageant and wowed the crowd with her elegant white carnival queen ensemble in Filipiniana terno accented by Swarovski pendants in the National Costume segment. In the Evening Gown category, Gutierrez sashayed on stage with a bold two-piece incorporated into a sleek black gown.

Speaking to Expat Media following her win, Gutierrez said she felt an “overwhelming sense of responsibility and deep honor” after receiving her crown. “The title of Mutya ng Pilipinas Dubai Charity is not just something I wear on my head, it’s a commitment that I will carry in my heart,” she told Expat Media.

“Moving forward, my immediate focus is on making a positive impact in our community here in Dubai. Specifically, I aim to support our fellow [Filipinos], especially [household workers], by providing educational training in computer technology proficiency and I will have greater involvement in volunteerism within the community,” she said.

Gutierrez is a receptionist intern at her family-owned Angelwings International Tourism in Dubai. She has a degree in Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting and Finance at Curtin University Dubai.

Q&A with Mutya ng Pilipinas – Charity Angel Gwyneth Gutierrez

How did you end up in Mutya ng Pilipinas Dubai?

To be honest, it’s something I never thought I would do. As an extremely shy person, even the idea of joining a pageant was intimidating. I’ve always been that quiet kid in class, hesitant to raise my hand or speak up. Just two weeks before the pageant, I mustered the courage to say yes, despite having zero experience in pageants or being in the spotlight.

What challenges did you face?

The idea of walking on stage and receiving attention was nerve-wracking, and I felt overwhelmed. I had to learn how to walk, improve my posture (I am often seen slouching), and practice diligently. Though I wished for more time to prepare, I have no regrets. I believe that everything happens for a reason. Joining Mutya ng Pilipinas Dubai pushed me out of my comfort zone, and those two weeks of preparation became a really transformative period in my life.

How did your pageant journey change you?

I discovered areas of myself that I never knew existed. It provided me a platform to discover what I am capable of, what I am passionate about, and, most importantly, my advocacy. I found my purpose through Mutya ng Pilipinas Dubai – from being a quiet listener, I transformed into someone who wants to be a voice. Mutya ng Pilipinas Dubai truly empowered me to embrace my full potential and advocate for meaningful change.

Who helped you a lot during the competition?

I am truly blessed to have had such incredible individuals by my side. I want to express my heartfelt thanks to Pau Camarines, Angel Villar de Jesus of El Ange Couture, and Ivykep Peralta. I am sincerely grateful for their belief in me, guidance, and unwavering support, which have been vital in my journey. Thank you for being a significant part of my Mutya ng Pilipinas Dubai journey.

Who do you dedicate your title to?

I dedicate my title first and foremost to God, my loving family, especially my Mom whose support has been my source of strength. Lastly, I dedicate it to the less fortunate. I am committed to using this platform as Mutya ng Pilipinas Dubai – Charity to make a meaningful impact through charity and community service. ICA/PIA/Expat Media
