DUBAI – Dubai carrier Emirates airline has started trials of a new travel pass aimed at simplifying travel requirements related to Covid-19.
The first passengers traveling from Dubai to Barcelona on Thursday were the first to try out the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Travel Pass.
The trial is being done on selected Emirates flights from Dubai to Barcelona and London Heathrow to Dubai. It will soon be expanded to include other routes.
Using the digital passport, passengers are able to quickly verify and share their pre-travel Covid-19 test status with Emirates.
The IATA Travel Pass is a mobile app to help passengers securely manage their travel in line with any government requirements for Covid-19 testing or vaccine information.
The trials are a step towards making travel more convenient by allowing travelers to manage their Covid-19 documentation digitally.
The app will have an integrated registry of travel requirements to enable passengers to find accurate information on travel and entry requirements for all destinations.
In future, travelers will also be able to share vaccination certificates with authorities and airlines to facilitate travel. ICA/Expat Media
