Property firm forecasts up to 15,000 new units up for rent in 6 areas

 

DUBAI – Rental rates in the city are expected to decrease as 11,000 to 15,000 new units are going to be offered for rent in the market this year, according to the property consultancy firm JLL.

Craig Plumb, head researcher of JLL Middle East and North Africa (MENA), said they expect such number of units from the 31,000 expected to be finished this year to materialize.



Last year, JLL predicted 26,000 new units to be constructed in the city’s residential areas but could only see 9,100 units that would materialize.

However, 14,600 units were delivered to tenants last year, surpassing the consultancy firm’s expectations.

JLL said majority of the new units that will be delivered this year will be in Akoya (3,300 units) followed by Dubai Marina (2,800 units).

The other areas where new units will be offered are: Dubai Sports City (2,500), Dubai Silicon Oasis (1,800), Meydan (1,800) and Dubai South (550).
