Can you network in just 40 seconds? Members of the Philippine Business Council Dubai and Northern Emirates (PBC-DNE) did just that at a recent The Executive Club (TEC) business meeting.
Speaking to Expat Media, PBC-DNE Chairman Edwin Duria said it happened during the final TEC meeting of the year on November 25, which sparked “inspiring talks and new friendships”.
“The segment allocated 40 seconds to each participant for introduction and connections. We extended a warm welcome to our newest members of the PBC and revealed the thrilling lineup of events slated for 2024,” Duria said while thanking RLC Residences for supporting the event.

Networking can be a “make or break” affair, with your introduction a key factor in a successful or failed connection. Can you really do it in just a few seconds? According to Columbia University Centre for Career Education, it is possible to network successfully even with just 30 seconds to spare.
According to the centre, the 30-second introduction must share “highlights about your interests, experience, strengths, accomplishments, and goals.”
“Be sure to tailor your introduction to the industry or person you are speaking with. A well-crafted introduction will make a strong first impression,” the centre advised.
The 30-second introduction should include your name, current role, and what you bring to the table, including experience, knowledge, skills and accomplishments, including how you would immediately benefit the other person.
“Your 30-second introduction should be conversational and natural so that you appear confident, enthusiastic, poised, and professional. Although prepared in advance, it should never sound memorized—you want to engage the listener and give him/her an opportunity to see your personality,” Columbia University Centre for Career Education added.
