The Dh23 million grand prize at Big Ticket Abu Dhabi is certainly changing the lives of 21 people after the multi-million dirham jackpot went to their Nepali colleague.
Doha-based Ranjit Kumar Pal was announced the big winner during the draw on Friday (February 3). He bought winning ticket 232936 on January 16.
Pal, who has been living in Qatar for the past seven years, will be sharing the prize with 20 other colleagues and friends in the country.
Pal, who works at a money exchange company, has been purchasing Big Tickets with his group in the past 15 months and can’t believe they have actually won the jackpot.
He plans to spend his winnings on his family in Nepal where he was two sons, aged 5 and 10. He also says he plans to continue buying Big Ticket. “I plan to continue trying my luck at winning cash, gold, and dream car prizes,” Pal said.
Meanwhile, Indian national Vijesh Viswanathan won the secondary prize of Dh1 million during Friday’s draw, with winning ticket number 017959.
Indians also took home other prizes: Shibu Mathew won Dh100,000 and Ajith Ramachandrakaimal won Dh50,000 while Suman Muthaiah Nadar Ragavan won a new Range Rover.
In March, the Big Ticket jackpot is set at Dh15 million, with a secondary prize of Dh1 million and a third prize of Dh100,000. Big Ticket holdes will also be entered into weekly draws for three Dh100,000 cash prizes. ICA/Expat Media
