Baofriend to open in Dubai Ripe Market

Baofriend is bringing its famous baos and a host of creative dishes to The Ripe Market in Dubai’s Umm Suqeim starting on Saturday (October 14).

The Ripe Market in Umm Suqeim’s Dubai Police Academy Park is open on Saturdays and Sundays until September 30.

Baofriend joins more than 30 foodie experiences in the community bazaar, which is comprised of a diverse mix of products including fashion, jewellery, art and homeware.

“The decision to participate in The Ripe Market was an easy one for us, as it will allow us not just to give people the opportunity to sample our food, but to also help us in connecting with the community and building more bridges,” said Dr. Ali Al Ibrahim and Junah Balungcas, the dynamic duo behind Baofriend.

“We are thrilled and excited to finally become a part of The Ripe Market family and community. To paraphrase the famous idiom, we are ready to come out with all baos blazing,” the duo said.

From its humble beginnings at its very first branch in Dubai Silicon Oasis, Baofriend has expanded with the opening of its Abu Dhabi Corniche branch in August. The company aims to open in 10 locations over the next five years.

Baofriend will be participating at Gitex Global, the Middle East’s biggest technology exhibition and conference at the Dubai World Trade Centre from October 16 to 20, and the Icons of Porsche exhibit, the region’s “coolest” festival for classic cars, on November 25 and 26 in Dubai Design District. Baofriend will also be present at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on Yas Island from November 24 to 27, as well as the Dubai Rugby 7s at the Emirates Rugby Stadium from December 1 to 3.

Two major landmark destinations will host the Baofriend brand in the long term: Dubai’s Global Village, which runs from October 18 to April 18, 2024, and Sheikh Zayed Festival in Abu Dhabi, from November 17 to March 9, 2024.

Baofriend will also be a participating brand at the key Cop28 climate change conference at Dubai Expo City, which will host global leaders and experts, and will run from November 30 to December 12.

“We are looking forward to all these events and much more. Wherever and whenever we can establish a presence, we will certainly consider them,” Balungcas said. “This is our way of continuing the vibrancy of the Baofriend brand and we do hope that these events will serve as our next stepping stones towards building more branches and adding more flavor to everyone’s lives,” she added.
