Andi Eigenmann reveals Jaclyn Jose’s cause of death

Actress Andi Eigenmann revealed that her mother, Jaclyn Jose, died of a heart attack.

In a press conference on Monday (March 4), Andi said that Jose died on Saturday morning (March 2). Jose’s body was discovered inside her home in Quezon City on Sunday (March 3).

“It is with great sadness that I announce the untimely passing of my nanay (mother). Mary Jane Guck. Better known as Jaclyn Jose. At the age of 60 on the morning of March 2, 2024 due to.. heart attack,” Andi said.

“Please provide us the respect and privacy to grieve and we hope this would put all speculations to rest,” Andi continued.

“Her undeniable legacy will definitely forever live on through her work, through children, children’s children and the many lives she has touched. She herself, her life itself was her greatest obra maestra,” she added.

Jose is survived by her children, daughter Andi and son Gwen Garimond Ilagan Guck. Born Mary Jane Guck on October 21, 1964, Jose enjoyed an illustrious acting career that spanned several decades since 1984.

In 2016, Jose became the first Filipino to win the Cannes Film Festival Best Actress Award for her role in “Ma’ Rosa,” directed by Brillante Mendoza.

In recognition of her lasting impact on the film industry, she was honored with the Movie Icon Award by The Eddys in 2023.

Jose starred in many films and TV shows, including works by acclaimed directors Lino Brocka and Chino Roño. She starred in “Mula Sa Puso,” “Marimar” and “Alyas Robinhood” and was last seen as Chief Espinas in “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo.” ICA/Expat Media
