Alyssa Milano on surviving Covid-19 and lingering symptoms

HOLLYWOOD – Actress Alyssa Milano has opened up about her battle with Covid-19, saying she felt like she was dying as she experienced the worst symptoms of the virus.

“This illness is not a hoax. I thought I was dying. It felt like I was dying,” Milano said in an Instagram post.

Milano, 47, said she tested negative for Covid-19 three times before her fourth test revealed that she was positive for the virus.

The actress was admitted to the hospital after she had difficulty breathing.

“Everything hurt. Loss of smell. It felt like an elephant was sitting on my chest. I couldn’t breathe. I couldn’t keep food in me,” she said.

Milano said she lost nine pounds in two weeks. “I was confused. Low grade fever. And the headaches were horrible. I basically had every Covid symptom,” she said.

At the end of March, Milano had recovered and tested negative for coronavirus twice.

However, her ordeal was far from over. Milano revealed that she’s been “living the last 4 months with lingering symptoms like, vertigo, stomach abnormalities, irregular periods, heart palpitations, shortness of breath, zero short term memory, and general malaise”.

The actress also criticized the US testing system as “flawed” after her experience with her earlier test results.

Milano said she will be donating her plasma with anti-bodies to help others struggling with coronavirus.

She urged everyone to take care. “Please wash your hands and wear a mask and social distance. I don’t want anyone to feel the way I felt. Be well. I love you all,” she said. ICA/Expat Media
