An African student has been jailed in Dubai for using a fake visa to travel to Canada.
The Dubai Criminal Court sentenced the student to 45 days in jail.
The case unfolded after an Emirates airline security personnel caught the student while he was transiting in Dubai on the way to Canada.
He was arrested by police and referred to the Public Prosecution.
During interrogation, the student denied using a fake visa, and said he wanted to go to Canada to complete his studies.
He said that he was residing in another African country prior to his travel and that he met a person who told him he can get a visa to Canada for a fee. ICA/Expat Media
