Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds is the new Chief Island Officer of Yas Island, Abu Dhabi.

It has only been 17 days since Ryan Reynolds has taken on the role as Yas Island’s newest Chief Island Officer, but no doubt the Deadpool actor is enjoying his time at its record-breaking attractions.

“I’m not a regular island officer here at Yas Island. I’m the chief. Which means I get to hang out with all the local celebs,” Reynolds says in the latest video that Yas Island uploaded on social media on Sunday (May 12). Reynolds described his new role as a “privilege no one else gets.”

Reynolds was seen enjoying rides at Warner Bros World Abu Dhabi, the world’s largest indoor theme park, taking on Superman in an arm-wrestling match and hanging out with more DC Comics characters, including The Flash and The Joker. He also visited Ferrari World and took on the fastest roller coaster in the world.

In an interview with DCT Abu Dhabi, Reynolds said: “I loved the attention to detail [on Yas Island]. Everywhere you look it seems this place is made with care, relaxation, and adventure in mind. That said, the rollercoaster at Ferrari World was something I don’t think I’ll ever forget. I wasn’t expecting it to move that fast.”

Reynolds follows Jason Momoa, who was named Yas Island’s Chief Island Officer in 2023. Before Momoa, Kevin Hart took on the title in 2022 as its first CIO.

As CIO, Reynolds has been featured visiting Yas Waterworld, playing golf at Yas Links Golf Course and skydiving on to the Yas Marina Circuit.

Liam Findlay, chief executive of Miral Destinations who chose Reynolds for the role, said the actor “brings his own unique blend of charisma, energy, and enthusiasm to the role, promising to elevate the Yas Island experience to even greater heights.” ICA/Expat Media
