Abu Dhabi: Man ordered to pay Dh15,000 after sharing photos of strangers on TikTok, Snapchat

A man in Abu Dhabi was forced to pay Dh15,000 to two individuals for posting images of them on social media without their permission.

The Abu Dhabi Court of Appeals upheld a previous judgment issued by the Abu Dhabi Court for Family, Civil, and Administrative Cases.

The man was discovered to have used images of the two strangers in a movie he posted on TikTok and Snapchat.

After seeing their photographs, the two individuals filed a lawsuit against the man, seeking Dh51,000 in moral compensation for invasion of privacy.

The Abu Dhabi Court for Family, Civil and Administrative Cases ruled in favor of the complainants, though a lower payout as indicated. The appellate court upheld the ruling. BKM/ Expat Media
