6 positive of Covid-19 after taking Emirates flight from UAE to Australia

DUBAI – Six people who flew on an Emirates flight to Australia have tested positive for coronavirus, Australian health officials confirmed.

The travellers, four women and two men aged between 40 and 64, boarded the flight from Dubai to Perth on July 1.

The flight between Dubai and Perth takes approximately 11 hours. It is not clear whether the six had undergone Covid-19 testing before leaving Dubai.

The group was confirmed positive of coronavirus two days after undergoing testing upon landing at Perth airport.

“The six new cases, four women and two men aged between 40-64, were all passengers on a flight from Dubai which arrived in Perth on 1 July,” according to statement from the Department of Health in the state of Western Australia.

“[They] returned positive test results following WA Health screening conducted on day two after their arrival,” according to the authority.

Australian health authorities said the six people are now quarantined at a hotel, along with an undisclosed number of passengers on the same flight.

Passengers on the flight have been told to closely monitor their health for two weeks, while those known to have interacted with the six have been advised to self-quarantine at home for 14 days. ICA/Expat Media
