238 Filipinos stranded in Dubai after ‘technical issues’ on Riyadh-bound flight

A total of 238 Filipinos bound for Riyadh were stranded in Dubai on Monday (January 23) after their flight faced “technical issues”, according to the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai.

Consul General Renato N. Dueñas met with the stranded Filipino passengers at the transit area of Dubai International Airport to “ascertain their condition and well-being”.

The consul general assured stranded passengers of assistance. The consulate is “constant communication with the airline to ensure the passengers’ safety and welfare.”

According to the Philippine consulate, the Filipinos were passengers of Philippine Airlines flight PR 654. “The 280-passenger flight, of which 85 per cent are Filipinos, was diverted to the Dubai International Airport due to technical issues,” according to the consulate.

The stranded passengers are being accommodated on a flight scheduled to depart Dubai at 10:40pm on Monday and is expected to arrive in Riyadh at 11:50pm. ICA/Expat Media
