DUBAI – A British tourist in Dubai collected speeding fines totaling Dh170,000 within just three hours of driving on Sheikh Zayed Road, according to a report on Monday.
Police said the man was driving at 240km/hr in a rented Lamborghini Huracan when radars caught him speeding between 2:30am and 6am on July 30.
Radars recorded 12 traffic violations as he drove over 200km/hr on the highway, which has a speed limit of 120km/hr.
He was also caught driving in speeds from 150km/hr to 200km/hr on the same highway and on Qarn Al Sabkha Road during the incident.
The owner of the car rental company said they are obliged to pay the fines as these were issued against the vehicle and not the driver, according to Arabic newspaper Emarat Al Youm.
It was not clear if the company would pass on the charges to the British driver. GAD/Expat Media
