DUBAI – Five masked men who attempted to rob a Lulu Hypermarket in Sharjah were arrested while they fought with one of the cashiers, according to the Sharjah Police.
The African suspects had used cleavers when they attacked the hypermarket in Al Falah area on Thursday evening, during working hours.
The armed attackers had grappled with the cashier to get the cash from the counter and did not notice the police arriving in the premises.
Police and security guards were able to arrest the suspects before they could flee the hypermarket.
Police said the cashier sustained serious injuries from the attack and was admitted to the Al Kuwaiti Hospital for treatment. No one else was injured in the incident.
The suspects are now in police custody and are expected to face charges. GAD/Expat Media
