DUBAI – A minibus crash on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road in Ras Al Khaimah on Wednesday (January 22) left one person dead and ten others injured, authorities confirmed.
Police said that the minibus overturned after the driver fell asleep at the wheel. An investigation is underway.
There were no further details about the identities of the victims, but police said two people were severely injured, with one of them in critical condition.
Nine ambulances and a helicopter were dispatched to the scene of the crash at Exit 22 of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road. The injured were taken to Sheikh Khalifa Specialty Hospital and Saqr Hospital for treatment.
Brigadier Ahmed Al Naqbi, director of traffic at Ras Al Khaimah Police, said the minibus was carrying 11 workers of a contracting company.
“One died, two were severely injured, five suffered from moderate injuries and three sustained minor injuries due to the accident,” Al Naqbi said. DAJ/Expat Media
