DUBAI – Two Asian men will be deported from the UAE after they finish serving a two-year jail term for stealing a mobile phone and Dh40.
The Ras Al Khaimah Criminal Court convicted the duo of assault and robbery. They pleaded guilty to all charges and admitted that they hoped to rob a bigger amount.
According to records, the men had accosted a worker at a labour accommodation in Ras Al Khaimah’s Jazira Al Hamra area.
They pretended to borrow a cigarette lighter from him before pushing him to the ground and grabbing his mobile phone and wallet containing Dh40.
The men tried to escape on a bicycle but was caught by the victim and bystanders, who subdued them until the Ras Al Khaimah Police arrived. ICA/Expat Media
