DUBAI – A new legal deal between the UAE and India will ensure that justice is served to Indian loan defaulters in the UAE who flee to India to avoid payments.
The Indian Ministry of Law and Justice on January 18 announced that the UAE is now a “reciprocating territory” for the Code of Civil Procedure, which means that verdicts of UAE courts can be executed in India.
Under the new deal, parties can enforce UAE decisions in India and get an outcome, with banks anticipated to pursue cases against hundreds of defaulters who have fled to India.
It is anticipated that the new law enforcement deal will make it quicker to resolve disputes, including child custody, divorce, alimony and family property cases. ICA/Expat Media
