DUBAI – Movie and TV online streaming service Netflix has announced changes to its prices in the UAE, starting with a shift from payment in dollars to dirhams.
The price for Basic, one-screen subscription will be Dh29 per month, instead of $7.99. Subscribers on the Standard plan will now pay pay Dh39 instead of $9.99 (Dh37).
Premium customers will have to pay 27 percent more, or Dh56 from $11.99 (Dh44).
Netflix said the change in prices will will take immediate effect.
The price adjustment in the UAE is Nexflix’s first since its launch in 2016.
The movie streaming provider has been improving its regional offers. Last year it launched its first Middle Eastern Original, a stand-up comedy featuring Lebanese comedian Adel Karam, and earlier this month its first regional original drama, Jinn. GAD/Expat Media
