DUBAI – Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray has revealed that she broke her Mikimoto crown worth $250,000 (Dh918,250).
A part of the crown broke when Gray danced at her homecoming parade at the Araneta Center in Metro Manila, Philippines.
“So one of the things I love about the parade is that they have this moving band and they have the drums that makes me want to dance, so I end up dancing although I am not a very good dancer,” Gray said in a video posted on the Miss Universe twitter page.
“I have a confession. The Mikimoto has seen better days as a result of my dancing. I’m so sorry,” the 25-year-old beauty queen said as she held the broken piece.
The Mikimoto is set with 500 diamonds that weigh almost 30 carats and 120 South Sea and Ayoka pearls. The Miss Universe Organisation said the crown will be fixed soon.
